Pandora Papers are a collection of leaked papers and files that uncover the hidden wealth and financial transactions of politicians, celebrities, leaders, and investors. These papers were released by ICIJ (The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists). According to the Twitter account of ICIJ, Pandora Papers contain 12 million documents from 14 service providers. The investigation uncovers the financial secrets of 35 current and former world leaders, 330+ politicians and public officials, and a global list of fugitives, con artists, and murderers. Pandora Papers contain more than 11.9 million confidential files, from 600+ journalists from 150 media outlets in 117 countries, and 2 years of reporting. Pandora Papers were released on October 03, 2021, at 9:30 PM (Pakistan Standard Time). The papers unmask the covert owners of offshore companies, incognito bank accounts, private jets, yachts, mansions, and famous artwork – providing more information than what\u2019s usually available to law enforcement and cash-strapped governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two journalists from Pakistan participated in the investigation of Pandora Papers namely Umar Cheema and Fakhar Durrani. According to their interviews on various Pakistani TV channels, they sent a questionnaire to those Pakistanis who have been named in Pandora Papers so that their views could be known and highlighted. Some people responded to their questionnaire while others did not pay attention to it. The names of more than 700 Pakistanis have been discovered in the data and the majority of them are tax-residents in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
