Vehicle manufacturers are experiencing a new issue in the current context of Pakistan. The government announced a few restrictions on the people not filing their income tax returns, and hence, they are classified as non-filers. A new restriction on non-filers is that they cannot purchase a new vehicle such that the vehicle is registered in their name. Since only a few percentage of the population files income tax returns, the sales of new vehicles may get a sharp decline due to this measure against non-filers. It will have to be seen whether the government announces flexibility in this regard or the non-filers are compelled to file their tax returns.
